Welcome to The 13th APIRA International Conference &

Macao Big Data Forum 2016

The 13th Asia-Pacific Internet Research Alliance (APIRA) International Conference will be held in Macao SAR, from September 21st to 24th, 2016. This is the 13th annual conference held in turn by APIRA’s board members. The APIRA partners, Internet researchers, industries and policy makers will come together to share their research results, viewpoints and to foster interactions and collaborations.

Meanwhile, the Macao Big Data Forum 2016 will also be held on September 23rd. The forum will not only discuss the current situation and potential development of Big Data in the future, but more emphasis will be laid on its relationship with Smart City.

Your presence in the conference and the forum will definitely help to make this event a successful one.

◆ Macao Association for Internet Research (MAIR)

The MAIR is a non-profit organization which is aimed at promoting the Internet development in Macao through conducting academic research and organizing the relevant activities. The MAIR organizes and participates in Internet research projects in order to establish links with external parties for boosting academic exchanges and ultimately to facilitate the scientific research development in the field of Internet research for the local community. 

Dr. Angus Cheong is the founder and current president of MAIR.

 

◆ Asia-Pacific Internet Research Alliance (APIRA)

The APIRA is a consortium of Internet research organizations consisting of scholars and professionals from the Asia-Pacific Region. Its objectives are to a) enhance communication and comparison in Asia-Pacific region on the Internet information; b) deepen the research on statistical techniques of the Internet information; c) facilitate the cooperation among Asia-Pacific countries and regions on the Internet information survey and research; and d) boost the regional development of the Internet research.

 

◆ The Macao Association for Promotion of Science and Technology (MAPST)

The Macao Association for Promotion of Science and Technology, MAPST, founded in 1997, aims at conducting academic communication, promoting scientific knowledge, facilitating cooperation with international technology and boosting development of local science, economy and culture. MAPST is constituted by a group of professors, scholars, medical doctors, senior engineers and many other elites from different areas.

 

The University of Macau (UM)

The University of Macau (UM) was founded in 1981. Its predecessor was the private University of East Asia. Through 34 years of development, UM has become a leading university in Macao, with marked progress in teaching, research, and community service. The only public comprehensive university in Macao, UM has produced more than 26,000 outstanding graduates for society since its founding.
